exactly what and how you'll be using your camera. I'm a freelance/hobbyist photographer, I don't make a living from it. I use a Nikon CP 990 because I didn't want to pay the $3-4K for an SLR digital at the time, but the CP990 offered the best quality and flexibility at the *time of exposure* for what I want to do. The drawbacks are that its more expensive than some, a bit more cumbersome, and a slower, bulkier method of taking a picture, vs. a simpler, point and shoot style digital that does most of the exposure controls for you such as a mavica or Olympus DL series. Personally, I don't like the floppy disk cameras because they have low resolution, but the endless supply of 'film' is very nice. Kodak makes some nice digital cameras in the way of the DC280 and 290. I wouldn't get quite so caught up in pixels, as the quality of pixels vary GREATLY from camera to camera. A .8 MP (1024x768) picture out of my CP990 will embarass most cameras on the market in any pixel count.
